Social Media: What Other people think

After interviewing 20 High Schoolers:

17/20 said that they use Social Media

4/20 Said that they use it daily

19/20 Said that they feel as if social media is bad

16/20 said that they can't quit social media even if they wanted to

5/20 said that the world IS affected by social media

20/20 said that social media is going to be bigger in the next 10 years


From these conclusions, Social Media is an addictive drug with major side effects. woohoo.

Social Media: The BAD

Social media may have its goods, but it definitely has more "bad" than anything. It is statistically proven that people are more likely to get depressed over what other people post. If they put up pictures of a vacation that YOU can't go to, you'd be depressed about it. It also destroys social interactions with people, because you are able to talk online. You may never hang out with your friends because you always talk with them through Facebook or other social networks.
There is also a fun fact that you can learn: Facebook sells your personal information to businesses. Yes. That's how Facebook makes Billions of Dollars. That is a violation of privacy and something should be done about it, but it all falls under us because "we agreed to the terms of use". How enjoyable is that? Knowing every second you are on Facebook, your personal life is being sold to businesses for them to advertise to you? Quite enjoyable right?
For me, this is the biggest and worst thing ANYONE can do to the consumers. It is good that we can see advertisements based on what we want, but the way to GAIN that knowledge is a violation on it's own.

Social Media: The GOOD

The Social media was created with a good intention. It was made so that people can easily communicate with people all across the world. People can contact friends and family who live on the other side of the world. It was also made for people to share their own opinions, debate over certain topics, rally gatherings. The social media became a very powerful tool for the people who wish to stay connected to the world. Not to mention Social networking sites spread information faster than any other media. This results in people knowing what is happening around the world the instant it happens. The social media also offers the Police a way to find and capture criminals. imagine Facebook as a suspect-finder website. That is what it is. It also lets advertisers target certain audiences that would actually be interested in their product. All this is good for consumers and businesses alike. It brings forth new ways for people to show whatever they want, whenever they want.

Social Media:Introduction and how I use it

In my daily life, I use social media such as facebook to communicate with friends and family across the world. I have an addiction which I am currently trying to rid of. The reason for this is because it is ruining my social life rather than broadening the outlook on it.There are no needs to go hang out with people since you all can chat on Facebook. The Social Media, IE Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, Forums, or anywhere where people can talk to one another, is any form of electronic communication. This is social media in a nutshell.
